The Concrete Rose Project Proudly Supports Raymond Goode's Acclaimed Stage Production
One People. Many Stories. One Humanity.
As we celebrate Juneteenth and reflect on the ongoing pursuit of freedom, justice, and understanding, The Concrete Rose Project (TCRP) is honored to support a powerful theatrical experience that embodies those very ideals.
On June 21st at 3:00 PM, nationally recognized writer, activist, and cultural organizer Raymond Goode will bring his acclaimed stage production, "Through Their Eyes: An Evening of Monologues, Music and Art," to the Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Theater in the heart of Leimert Park, Los Angeles.
Following successful performances in Texas, New York, Virginia, Tennessee, and Washington D.C., this special one-day-only presentation arrives in Los Angeles as part of a meaningful Juneteenth and Father's Day celebration.
More than a theatrical production, Through Their Eyes is an invitation to reflect on our shared humanity.
The Power of Seeing Through Another's Eyes
What if we truly understood the experiences of others?
What if empathy became the foundation for how we interact with one another?
These questions serve as the heartbeat of Raymond Goode's work.
Through a compelling combination of live acting, spoken-word monologues, music, visual art, and dance interpretation, Through Their Eyes explores themes of identity, resilience, leadership, healing, resistance, awakening, and self-determination.
The production encourages audiences to look beyond their own perspectives and consider the challenges, triumphs, hopes, and fears that shape the lives of others.
At its core, the message is simple yet profound:
If we can place ourselves in the position of others, we can begin to heal divisions, challenge destructive behaviors, and build a world rooted in understanding, compassion, and love.
Why This Production Matters
In a world increasingly divided by differences, opportunities for meaningful dialogue and human connection are more important than ever.
Art has always served as a bridge.
Stories allow us to learn from one another. They preserve history. They inspire change. They create empathy where misunderstanding once existed.
Through powerful storytelling and artistic expression, Raymond Goode challenges audiences to consider one of humanity's most important questions:
What is the glue that holds us all together?
The answer is not found in politics, status, race, or economics.
It is found in our ability to recognize our shared humanity.
Why The Concrete Rose Project Supports This Work
The Concrete Rose Project was founded on the belief that stories matter.
Whether through public art installations, monuments, murals, educational programs, scholarships, or cultural preservation initiatives, TCRP seeks to honor the experiences, contributions, and legacies of individuals whose stories deserve to be remembered.
Our mission has always been about creating opportunities for reflection, education, and understanding through art and culture.
That is why supporting Through Their Eyes is a natural extension of our work.
The themes explored throughout the production align closely with the values that guide The Concrete Rose Project:
Empathy
Cultural understanding
Community engagement
Historical preservation
Human dignity
Social awareness
Healing through art
Like TCRP, Raymond Goode's work reminds us that meaningful change begins when we are willing to see the world through perspectives beyond our own.
Honoring Juneteenth Through Art
Juneteenth represents more than a historical milestone.
It is a celebration of resilience, perseverance, freedom, and the continuing journey toward equality and justice.
Throughout history, artists have played an essential role in preserving culture and documenting the human experience.
From literature and music to visual arts and theater, creative expression has often served as a catalyst for healing and progress.
Through Their Eyes continues that tradition by using art as a vehicle for dialogue, education, and community connection.
This Juneteenth, audiences will have the opportunity to experience a production that not only entertains but also inspires reflection and meaningful conversation.
